Mission & Vision

Wildwood Learning Center is the online program of Wildwood Community School. We are a Christian school committed to providing a Charlotte Mason "living education" to students of diverse backgrounds. The source of all truth is God Himself (John 1:14), and truths are communicated to us through His Word, through other people, and through His creation (Romans 1:20). Partnering with family and community, we will guide and empower each student to achieve a life rich in relationship to God, self, others, ideas, and all of creation.

We strive to offer an atmosphere that instills a love of learning in the students. It is our intention to include a broad but balanced curriculum. Students receive support that fosters their desire to be better as individuals and to improve relationships. Including a generous curriculum that uses the best living books sparks students' interest and keeps them engaged; it connects diverse cultures through readings and interactions; it gives students a responsibility to take the knowledge they encounter and apply it in their lives. In the positive atmosphere found in our online classes through Wildwood Learning Center the students are able to grow, and they succeed.

Science of Relations

• A child has natural relations with a vast number of things and thoughts
• It is our responsibility to bring the child into contact with these things and ideas
• It is the child who makes the connections their very own

Atmosphere

• We take into account the educational value of the child's own environment
• We make use of the things and people in their natural setting
• We do not create a "child-environment" separate from reality

Discipline

• People act by habit more often than they know
• We help the children to form good habits to ease their lives
• Attending to the habit of attention is kept at the forefront of our teaching

Life

• The mind thrives on ideas
• Ideas are found in the words and stories of other people
• Connecting these minds through ideas is what keeps the love of learning alive
• We present art, music, literature, history, science, handicrafts, and more so the child has the opportunity to make these connections
